The contracts and the building application form have been signed - now it's official: We're building a house! Wait a minute ... it's going to be more than just a house - it's going to be our home! Wow! We're really building a HOME! Call me crazy or just an Englisch teacher with a spleen for words, but I looked it up in the Oxford English dictionary. So, here's the definition:
HOME [noun]:
(1) The physical structure within which one lives, such as a house or an
apartment.
(2) A dwelling place together with the family or social unit that occupies it.
(3) An environment offering security and happiness.
As indicated by the definition, building one's own home is a significant endeavor as well as an exciting adventure and we're thrilled about it - especially because we've found the perfect lot (in Tostedt-Otter) and a building company (Viebrock) that we trust completely.

Construction will start in May 2014 and if everything goes according to plan the "dwelling place" will be ready for us to move in by the end of September.
Wir stürtzen uns ins Abenteuer Hausbau ...
Die Verträge und der Bauantrag sind unterschieben - jetzt wird's also ernst: Wir bauen ein Haus! Moment mal ... es ist mehr als ein Haus - es wird unser Zuhause! Wow! Wir bauen unser ZUHAUSE! Um mir der Bedeutung dieses Unterfangens in Gänze bewusst zu werden, musste ich das gleich im Wörterbuch nachschauen (da schlägt mal wieder die Lehrerpersönlichkeit durch ;o). Hier also die Definition:
ZUHAUSE (Substantiv):
(1) Ein Heim, in dem jemand lebt und sich wohl fühlt, z.B.: eine Wohnung oder
ein Haus.
(2) Eine Behausung, die man gemeinsam mit seiner Familie oder sozialen
Einheit bewohnt.
(3) Eine Umgebung, die den Bewohnern Sicherheit und Glück bietet.
Der Hausbau ist somit eine bedeutende Herausforderung und ein aufregendes Abentuer zugleich. Eine spannende Zeit liegt vor uns und wir freuen uns sehr darauf - vor allem weil wir nicht nur das perfekte Grundstück (in Tostedt-Otter) gefunden haben, sondern auch ein Bauunternehmen (Viebrock), das unser volles Vertrauen genießt.
Baubeginn ist im Mai 2014 und wenn alles nach Plan verläuft, können wir bereits Ende September in unser Eigenheim einziehen.
